Lot 700:
Sold for: $100
Description
This lot consists of a collection of 95 rounds of 7mm Mauser (7x57mm) rifle ammunition, including both commercial retail and military-style loadings. The group features one retail cardboard box for Western Super-X Center Fire Cartridges containing 19 rounds of 175-grain soft point Lubaloy projectiles, with headstamps including SUPER-X 7M/M and REM-UMC 7 M/M. The remainder of the lot includes 76 rounds featuring round-nose, silver-colored metal jacketed bullets, with 75 of these rounds mounted on fifteen 5-round stripper clips. Twelve of these stripper clips are housed within four cardboard packets, while three clips are loose. Verbatim markings on the Western box include Western CENTER FIRE CARTRIDGES, Super-X, 7m/m MAUSER (7×57), 175 GRAIN SOFT POINT, Lubaloy BULLET, and NON-CORROSIVE PRIMING—SMOKELESS POWDER. The four cardboard packets feature red circular paper seals marked DEUTSCHE WAFFEN- und MUNITIONSFABRIKEN · KARLSRUHE surrounding a central D W & M K logo. The cartridges feature brass casings with a natural aged patina.
Condition report:
The ammunition and packaging are in good vintage condition. The brass cases show varying degrees of natural aged patina, tarnish, and light surface oxidation. The projectiles on the stripper clips exhibit a dull, oxidized finish to the silver-colored jackets. The Western retail box shows moderate shelf wear and fraying at the corners, including a hand-written price on the front panel. The cardboard packets show significant age-related wear, and the red paper seals are partially torn or have been reinforced with clear adhesive tape. The cartridges appear to be live; however, they are sold as collectible items only and have not been function-tested.
