Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 719:
Sold for: $250
Description
A lot comprising 240 rounds of .30 caliber Carbine M1 Ball ammunition manufactured by the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. The cartridges are loaded onto 10-round stripper clips and housed within six-pocket olive drab cotton canvas bandoliers. The front of each bandolier is stenciled in black ink with the markings: CAL. 30 CARBINE, BALL M1, 10 RD CLIPS, and LC 50-281. These markings identify the caliber, projectile type, packaging method, and the manufacturer (LC for Lake City), production year (1950), and the specific production lot number (281). This era of production coincides with the early years of the Korean War. The bandoliers are designed with integrated shoulder straps for infantry use in the field.
Condition report:
The ammunition and bandoliers are in good vintage condition. The olive drab cotton canvas displays some fraying at the edges and light surface wear consistent with age and long-term military storage. The brass casings of the ammunition have developed a dark, natural tarnish and aged patina throughout.
