Lot 721:
Three Italian Breda Modello 30 Machine Gun Charger Clips with Twenty 6.5mm Rounds
Sold for: $80
Description
A trio of Italian military charger clips designed for the Breda Modello 30 light machine gun. These hopper-style clips are manufactured from brass or brass-plated steel in a distinctive U-shaped form. One of the three clips is fully loaded with twenty rounds of 6.5x52mm Carcano ammunition, consisting of brass casings and copper-jacketed spitzer-style projectiles. Each clip features an identical manufacturer stamp on the top handle reading S.M.I. — 939, attributing production to the Societa Metallurgica Italiana in 1939. This equipment saw extensive use during World War II and was frequently repurposed by German units following the 1943 Italian armistice under the designation l.MG 099(i).
Condition report:
The items are in good to very good historical condition. All three clips exhibit an aged patina with scattered oxidation and surface wear typical for military field gear of this period. The clips maintain their structural integrity. The twenty rounds of ammunition are well-preserved with clean brass casings and no significant corrosion.
