Description
This is a Swedish Mauser Model 1896 bolt-action rifle chambered in 6.5x55mm and configured in the standard infantry length. The rifle features a 29-inch barrel equipped with a blade front sight and a tangent rear sight graduated to 600 meters. The receiver, barrel, and hardware retain a blued finish, while the bolt assembly remains polished in the white. Key markings include the receiver bridge stamped with a crown over a C monogram above the inscription CARL GUSTAFS STADS GEVARSFAKTORI 1916. The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number HK 384136. Matching partial serial numbers 136 are visible on the bolt handle, bolt shroud, safety, magazine floorplate, and both barrel bands. The buttplate tang is marked with non-matching partial number 001. An import mark on the barrel near the muzzle reads SAMCO MIA FL M96 6.5X55 SWEDEN++. The rifle is mounted in a one-piece wood stock with finger grooves and a standard two-part brass identification disc recessed into the right side of the buttstock. It is equipped with a cleaning rod and a smooth steel buttplate. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The rifle is in good condition, showing a mostly consistent blued finish with thinning on the barrel bands, muzzle, and trigger guard. The bolt assembly shows minor storage marks but remains mostly bright. The wood stock has scattered handling marks, dings, and scratches consistent with age and service, including a small chip on the right side behind the rear barrel band. The bore is bright with strong rifling. The action appears to function correctly, although we have not function-tested this firearm.
