Description

This Japanese Arisaka Type 99 is a bolt action rifle chambered in 7.7x58mm Arisaka, configured in the standard short rifle pattern utilized by the Imperial Japanese Army. The rifle features a 26 inch barrel fitted with a hooded front sight and a bayonet lug. The top of the receiver is prominently marked with the incised characters 九九式 for Type 99, although the Imperial Chrysanthemum has been removed, leaving a typical ground scar. Verbatim markings on the left side of the receiver include a series symbol, the serial number 32756, and the Nagoya Arsenal symbol. The firearm is mounted in a full-length wooden stock of two-piece buttstock construction with a side-mounted sling swivel and a metal buttplate; notably, the stock has a crack and displays numerous service-related dings and handling marks. It is equipped with a folding ladder rear sight that retains its original anti-aircraft wings. Accompanying the rifle is a brown leather ammunition pouch and a brass muzzle accessory. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.

Condition report:

The metal components exhibit a heavily weathered appearance with the original blued finish thinned to a dark brown patina, showing significant wear, surface oxidation, and areas of light pitting throughout the barrel and receiver. The bore was not inspected for rifling condition. The bolt action appears to function correctly, though this rifle has not been function-tested. The wooden stock remains solid but is in well-used condition with a visible crack and scattered scratches and abrasions. The included leather pouch is aged and stiff with significant wear to the closing straps.
