Description

A Chilean Model 1912 bolt action service rifle chambered in 7x57mm Mauser, manufactured under contract by Waffenfabrik Steyr in Austria. This long rifle configuration features a full-length 29 inch barrel fitted with a blade front sight and a tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters. The metal components exhibit a traditional military finish, with a bright, polished receiver and bolt assembly contrasted by the blued finish of the barrel, barrel bands, and floorplate. The receiver ring is prominently stamped with the Chilean national crest above the model designation MODELO 1912. The left side of the receiver rail is marked WAFFENFABRIK STEYR over AUSTRIA. Matching serial numbers are present across major components, with C 7693 appearing on the receiver, bolt handle, and floorplate, while the partial number 93 is stamped on the cocking piece and other small parts. The rifle is stocked in walnut with a full handguard, featuring a recessed metal marking disc on the left side of the butt and a circular Chilean cartouche dated 1912 on the right. Additional features include a smooth steel buttplate, a bayonet lug, and an attached leather sling. The cleaning rod is present but bears the non-matching number D 5332. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.

Condition report:

The firearm is in good overall condition, with the blued surfaces showing typical thinning and light holster wear consistent with military use. The polished receiver and bolt remain bright with minor instances of surface peppering and faint oxidation. The walnut stock remains structurally sound with numerous dings, scratches, and small compressions as expected for a service arm, but the markings and cartouches remain clearly legible. The leather sling shows age-related stiffness and superficial cracking but remains intact. The bolt action appears to function smoothly and correctly, though the bore was not inspected and we have not function-tested this firearm.
