Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 94:
Sold for: $325
Description
This lot consists of 256 rounds of .30-06 Springfield Match T291 ammunition produced by the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. The cartridges are organized into 8-round en bloc clips, specifically designed for use in the M1 Garand rifle, with many clips contained within protective cardboard sleeves. The ammunition is housed in an olive drab M19A1 steel ammunition can. Each cartridge features a copper-jacketed projectile seated in a boxer-primed brass case. Prominent markings on the ammunition can include the stenciled yellow text 240 CAL .30 CARTRIDGES MATCH T291 BULK IN 8RD CLIPS LOT LC 12002. Headstamp markings on the individual cartridge cases are verbatim LC 61 MATCH, identifying them as Lake City production from 1961. The brass cases show varying degrees of surface tarnish and oxidation consistent with long-term storage in a military environment.
Condition report:
The ammunition appears to be in good overall condition. The brass cartridge cases exhibit minor surface oxidation and tarnish, but no signs of severe corrosion or structural compromise. Projectiles are secure in the case mouths. The en bloc clips are intact and show no significant deformation. The M19A1 ammunition can retains much of its original olive drab finish with minor exterior wear, scattered scratches, and a partially torn white adhesive label on the side. This is live ammunition.
