Description
One Ball Watch Company Official Railroad Standard pocket watch. The open face timepiece features a white porcelain dial signed Ball Official Standard Cleveland with the trademark railroad logo. The dial is designed with bold black Arabic numeral hour markers, an outer minute track, and a sunken sub-seconds dial at the six o’clock position. The hands are black steel spade and whip style. The 10 karat gold-filled case is embellished with chased scrollwork and geometric patterns along the edges of the bezel and the case back rim. It features a distinctive triangular bow and a large fluted onion crown. The manual wind movement is a model 999B containing 21 jewels and adjusted to six positions, featuring damaskeened plates and gold wheels. This caliber was manufactured by the Hamilton Watch Company for the Ball Watch Company. The watch is presented in a wooden display box featuring a laser-engraved image of a steam locomotive and the text The Hamilton Watch, The Rail Road Timekeeper of America. A handwritten identification card is included.
Case size: 16 size (approximately 50 mm).
Condition report:
The watch is in overall excellent vintage condition. The 10 karat gold-filled case displays light surface scratches and minor wear consistent with age and occasional use. The porcelain dial appears bright and clean, free of visible hairlines or chips. The crystal is clear and well-seated. The movement has not been tested for timekeeping accuracy or mechanical functionality.
