Description
This lot consists of 78 rounds of .22 Short rimfire ammunition produced by the Peters Cartridge Division. The ammunition is housed in two original 50-count cardboard boxes featuring the classic blue and red DuPont-era packaging. One box contains cartridges with silver-colored cases, while the other contains cartridges with brass cases, both loaded with lead round nose bullets. Front panel markings specify PETERS HIGH VELOCITY 22 SHORT 50 RIM FIRE CARTRIDGES along with the DuPont logo and MADE IN U.S.A. The end flaps are marked PETERS HV HIGH VELOCITY 22 SHORT. The reverse of each box states These powerful PETERS cartridges are built for maximum effectiveness and dependability… PETERS CARTRIDGE DIVISION Remington Arms Company, Inc. Bridgeport, Conn. Individual headstamps are clearly marked with PETERS over HV. The total verified count for this lot is 78 rounds, with the remaining space in the boxes filled with period-appropriate paper wadding.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in vintage condition. The lead bullets show visible signs of white oxidation, particularly within the silver-cased box. The cases exhibit a natural patina and some surface tarnishing but remain structurally sound with no visible splits or primer strikes. The cardboard boxes show moderate to heavy shelf wear, including scuffing, staining, and some tearing to the flaps and edges.
