Description
This lot consists of 75 rounds of 20 gauge shotgun ammunition contained in three vintage boxes from two major manufacturers. The collection includes one box of Remington Express Standard-Length Magnum 2 3/4 inch shells with a 1 1/8 oz load of #2 shot, one box of Remington Express Extra Long Range 2 3/4 inch smokeless wetproof shells with a 1 oz load of #4 shot, and one box of Western Super-X Mark 5 plastic 2 3/4 inch shells with a 1 oz load of #4 shot. Verbatim markings on the Remington boxes include Remington Express, 20 GA., Standard-Length Magnum, Extra Long Range, Kleanbore Priming, Smokeless Wetproof, and the Du Pont logo. Product codes RX20S-MAG 3-1 1/8-2 and RX20-4 are visible. The individual green hulls are marked Remington Express, Kleanbore, and Use In 20 Ga. Guns Only. The Western packaging is marked Super-X Mark 5 All New Plastic Shotgun Shells, 20 GA., 2 3/4 IN., and Maximum Load. Shells in this box feature red and yellow plastic hulls marked Western, Super-X, and Mark 4. This lot provides a total of 75 rounds of field ammunition for collectors or shooters of 20 gauge firearms.
Condition report:
The three cardboard boxes show significant signs of vintage wear, including frayed and softened edges, corner scuffing, staining, and some surface paper loss. The Western box lid is partially torn at the hinge. The ammunition shells are in good overall condition, showing some expected oxidation and darkening to the brass-colored bases. The plastic hulls are intact with minor surface dust and scuffs. One yellow Western shell is present alongside the standard red hulls. The shells appear to be live and in serviceable condition, although they have not been function-tested or evaluated for internal propellant stability.
