Description
This Winchester Model 52B bolt-action target rifle is chambered in .22 Long Rifle and represents a classic of American rimfire competition. The rifle features a heavy blued steel barrel measuring approximately 28 inches, equipped with a Lyman Super Targetspot telescopic sight featuring external micrometer adjustment mounts and a fine crosshair reticle. The action is housed in a custom-style walnut target stock designed for precision shooting, characterized by a high Monte Carlo cheekpiece, an oversized contoured pistol grip, and a horizontally ribbed rubber buttpad. The underside of the forearm is fitted with an accessory rail supporting an adjustable wooden ball palm rest and a polished aluminum hand stop with an integrated sling swivel. Key markings include the barrel designation WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL – MODEL 52 – WINCHESTER TRADE MARK – .22 LONG R. accompanied by the WP proof mark. The receiver is stamped WINCHESTER TRADE MARK and MADE IN U.S.A. WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN, CONN. – PATENTED – while the right side displays the serial number 46331 B. The telescopic sight is marked THE LYMAN GUN SIGHT CORP. and SUPER TARGETSPOT 4580. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The blued finish remains very good, retaining approximately 92-95% of its original coverage with some expected thinning on the bolt handle, trigger guard, and receiver edges. The custom walnut stock is in attractive condition, exhibiting minor handling marks, light surface scratches, and small dings from period use, primarily around the cheekpiece and forearm. The bore is bright with sharp, well-defined rifling and no signs of pitting. The bolt action is smooth and the trigger retains a crisp release, though we have not function-tested this firearm with live ammunition. The Lyman optic features clear glass with a sharp reticle and functional adjustment knobs.
