Description
This lot consists of an original Remington Arms Company, Inc. Kleanbore cardboard ammunition box containing a mixed collection of 50 cartridges in .45 caliber. The two-piece green and red box is labeled for .45 Automatic Colt centerfire smokeless cartridges. Key markings on the top label include .45 AUTOMATIC COLT, 50 CENTRAL FIRE SMOKELESS CARTRIDGES, and the stylized KLEANBORE logo within an elongated red banner. Additional markings specify the contents are NON-CORROSIVE and NON-EROSIVE with a 230 GRS. METAL CASED BULLET. The lower section identifies the manufacturer as REMINGTON ARMS COMPANY, INC., AMMUNITION AND FIRE ARMS, BRIDGEPORT, CONN., U. S. A., with references to NEW YORK and LONDON. The side of the box bears the number R397. The interior contains a non-original, mixed assortment of .45 Auto and .45 ACP cartridges with various headstamps. Transcribed headstamps from the lot include 45 AUTO CBC, FEDERAL 45 AUTO, WINCHESTER 45 AUTO, REM-UMC 45 ACP, and military match ammunition marked WCC 98 MATCH.
Condition report:
The original cardboard box shows significant wear consistent with age, including frayed edges, multiple tears, surface paper loss on the sides, and overall staining. The internal dividers are worn but present. The mixed lot of cartridges exhibits varying degrees of surface oxidation, tarnish, and dulling of the brass finish. The primers are intact and the ammunition appears live, although its functionality has not been tested.
