Description
This lot consists of 68 rounds of vintage .25 Stevens Short rimfire ammunition manufactured by Canadian Industries Limited (C-I-L) under the Dominion brand. The ammunition is presented in one original yellow and blue cardboard box accompanied by a clear plastic bag containing the remainder of the 68 round total. These cartridges feature copper cases and 65 grain lead bullets that are inside lubricated. Key markings include the box labeling “FIFTY 25 STEVENS SHORT” and “65 GRAIN BULLET INSIDE LUBRICATED” with the “C-I-L” logo in an oval and the designation “SUPER-CLEAN SMOKELESS.” The side of the box indicates the ammunition is adapted for Marlin, Stevens, Remington, and Winchester single shot rifles. Each cartridge case is marked with a “D” headstamp on the rim. The box also bears a vintage retail sticker from Lefebvre’s Sports & Hobbies in North Bay, Ontario.
Condition report:
The original cardboard box shows moderate to heavy wear including tears on the top flap, significant edge fraying, and surface abrasions. The copper cartridge cases show a natural aged patina and some surface tarnish. The lead bullets exhibit significant oxidation and lead bloom, characterized by a heavy white powdery coating on the projectiles. The cartridges appear to be live factory loads and the overall quantity is verified as 68 rounds.
