Description
This is a single Pietro Beretta BL-1 over-and-under 12-gauge shotgun featuring 28-inch barrels with a single bead front sight. The barrels are constructed of high-strength chromium molybdenum steel and are chambered for 2 3/4-inch shells. The receiver features a blued finish and is equipped with a single selective trigger and a manual tang-mounted safety that serves as the barrel selector. The furniture consists of a checkered walnut pistol-grip stock and a matching checkered forend. The stock has been fitted with an aftermarket black rubber Pachmayr White Line ventilated recoil pad with a white spacer. Prominent markings include the model designation BL-1 encircled on the underside of the receiver beneath an engraved winged figure holding a hoop and the legend MADE IN ITALY. The sides of the receiver are marked PIETRO BERETTA GARDONE V.T. – Brescia alongside the Beretta three-arrow logo. Barrel markings specify 12 GA. 2 3/4 IN. – 28 INCHES and HIGH STRENGTH CHROMIUM MOLYBDENUM STEEL – S -. The barrel lug is stamped with the serial number B06556 and the model designation S.55. Italian proof marks are present on the lug and barrels, including a star over PSF and a shield crest, as well as the Roman numeral date code XXIV, which confirms a manufacture date of 1968. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The blued finish on the barrels and receiver is in good condition, showing light surface wear and minor handling marks consistent with field use. The bores are bright and clean. The checkered walnut stock and forend exhibit several small dings and shallow scratches, but the wood remains structurally sound with no visible cracks; a small piece of yellow adhesive tape is present on the trigger guard. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm with live ammunition. The Pachmayr recoil pad is well-fitted and the rubber remains pliable.
