Description
A Walther LP 53 single-shot break-action air pistol chambered in 4.5mm caliber. This example features a 9-inch blued barrel and a frame finished in a textured black crinkle coating. The furniture consists of two-piece brown marbled polymer grips with molded diamond checkering and the Walther banner logo. The sights include a tall fixed front blade and a screw-adjustable rear notch. Verbatim markings on the left side of the frame include the Walther banner logo above MADE IN GERMANY followed by LP Mod 53, Cal. 4.5, and Walther’s Patent. The serial number 02038 is clearly stamped on the left side of the frame forward of the trigger guard. This lot is accompanied by its original brown cardboard factory box, a brass cleaning rod, and a plastic container containing approximately 150 lead diabolo pellets showing surface oxidation. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The frame retains a high percentage of its original black crinkle finish with some light surface dust and minor handling marks. The barrel bluing is mostly intact with some thinning at the muzzle and light wear along high edges. The marbled polymer grips are in good condition without cracks or significant chips, retaining sharp checkering. The bore has not been inspected, and while the action appears to operate correctly, the pistol has not been function-tested. The original cardboard box shows edge wear and surface scuffing but remains structurally sound. The brass cleaning rod is in good condition, and the included lead pellets exhibit significant white surface oxidation.
