Description
This lot consists of 38 Rounds of .257 Roberts ammunition and components housed in two vintage commercial cardboard boxes. The first is a Winchester Super-Speed yellow box for 87-grain pointed soft point cartridges, bearing product code W2571. The cartridges in this box feature headstamps reading SUPER SPEED 257 ROBERTS. The second container is a red Remington Components box for primed cases, containing a selection of items headstamped R-P 257 ROBT. Extensive handwritten ink markings are present on both boxes, including prices of 18.50 and 4.00 on the Winchester box and 2.45 on the Remington box. The interior lid of the Remington box features a handwritten note stating NEW CASES #1 – LOAD – 3/22/64. The brass casings exhibit an aged patina and areas of light surface oxidation, while the packaging shows significant wear including frayed edges, fading, and staining consistent with its age.
Condition report:
The vintage packaging is in fair condition with visible wear, frayed corners, and numerous ink notations. The brass cases and loaded cartridges show a natural aged patina and scattered light surface oxidation. Based on the presence of unspent primers, the ammunition and components appear to be live and have not been function-tested.
