Description
A single Hamilton Watch Company Railway Special pocket watch, Grade 992B, complete with its original printed cardboard presentation box. The timepiece features a 21-jewel movement housed in a 10K gold-filled case, which is distinguished by decorative milled or coin-edge detailing on both the bezel and the case back. The white dial is signed HAMILTON RAILWAY SPECIAL and features bold black Arabic numerals, an outer minute track with red five-minute interval markers from 5 to 60, and a subsidiary seconds dial positioned at the 6 o’clock mark. The watch is fitted with blued steel hands. The original box confirms the model as Grade 992B and 10K Gold Fill, bearing the manufacturer’s slogan The Railroad Timekeeper of America along with a graphic of a steam locomotive and the company’s location of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA.
Condition report:
The watch case displays significant surface scratching and honest wear on the back cover consistent with regular use. Visible tarnishing and patina are present around the crown, pendant, and bow. The dial appears to be in good condition with no visible hairlines. The original cardboard box shows minor shelf wear, light corner rubbing, and faint soiling commensurate with age. The mechanical movement has not been tested for timekeeping accuracy or long-term functionality.
