This lot features 118 rounds of .45 ACP caliber ball ammunition specifically designed for the M1911 pistol, contained within three historic manufacturer boxes. The first is a vintage two-piece box from Frankford Arsenal labeled for 50 Pistol Ball Cartridges, Caliber .45, Model of 1911, Smokeless Powder, which contains cartridges with lead projectiles and brass casings bearing headstamps F A 14, F A 15, and F A 21. The second is an Olin Corporation box for 50 Cartridges Caliber .45 Ball M1911, Lot WCC-1-45, containing mixed rounds with steel-colored projectiles and brass cases headstamped W C C 41, W C C 42, R A 41, and R A 42, indicating production by Western Cartridge Company and Remington Arms during the World War II era. The third is a Federal Cartridge Corporation box for 50 Cartridges Ball Caliber .45 M1911, Lot FC 1949, containing mixed cartridges with copper-jacketed projectiles and brass casings with headstamps including W C C 41, R A 41, R A 42, and Concorde Loaded. The ammunition appears to be in live, collectible condition. The brass casings exhibit varying degrees of surface oxidation and a naturally aged patina. The lead projectiles in the Frankford Arsenal box show typical white oxidation frosting. The cardboard packaging shows significant signs of age and storage wear, including moisture staining, corner crushing, and frayed edges. The Frankford Arsenal box displays the most notable structural degradation and heavy staining, while the Federal box includes handwritten notations in ink reading Wec 62.
