Description
A J. Stevens Arms & Tool Co. Model 43 Diamond Model tip-up single-shot pistol chambered in .22 caliber, intended for target or gallery use. The firearm features a 10-inch round barrel with a dark brown patina and a nickel-plated frame that exhibits some clouding and light surface wear consistent with age. It is fitted with smooth walnut grips secured by a single screw through a brass escutcheon on the left side. Sighting is provided by a blade front sight and a screw-adjustable rear leaf sight mounted to the barrel. The pistol utilizes a tip-up action released by a button on the frame, a spurred hammer, and a spur trigger integrated into the lower profile of the frame. Verbatim markings on the top barrel flat include J. STEVENS A & T CO. above CHICOPEE FALLS. MASS. U.S.A. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The barrel retains a largely uniform dark brown patina with visible thinning of the finish toward the muzzle and light surface wear. The nickel-plated frame remains mostly intact with typical clouding, scattered light surface scratches, and some wear at the high edges. The smooth walnut grips are in good condition, showing minor dings and handling marks but no significant cracks or repairs. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. The bore was not inspected.
