Description
A lot of four vintage boxes of Winchester Leader Staynless .22 Short rimfire ammunition, totaling 200 rounds. Each yellow, blue, and red cardboard box is marked to contain 50 lead lubricated cartridges. The packaging displays various markings including the Winchester trade mark, Leader, Staynless, .22 Short, Lead Lubricated, Rim Fire Cartridges, Smokeless, and Non-Corrosive. Verbatim markings on the boxes include WINCHESTER TRADE MARK MADE IN U. S. A., LEADER STAYNLESS, .22 SHORT LEAD LUBRICATED, and the product code K 2383 R on the end flaps. The individual cartridges feature brass cases with a raised H headstamp and lead round-nose bullets. The bullets show visible lubrication and surface oxidation characteristic of vintage rimfire ammunition.
Condition report:
The cardboard boxes show general shelf wear consistent with age, including edge fraying, minor staining, and light corner crushing. One box has a visible puncture on an end flap. The brass cartridge cases have developed a dark patina and minor tarnish. The lead bullets exhibit significant white oxidation and corrosion. The ammunition appears to be live but is sold as a vintage collectible with no guarantee of functionality.
