Description
This vintage photographic set consists of an Eastman Kodak Brownie Target Six-20 box camera, a hand-stitched leather carrying case, and an original box of Eastman Special Developer. The camera is constructed of a metal box body covered in black textured leatherette. The front features a decorative metal faceplate with a distinctive silver-and-black Art Deco vertical stripe pattern. Inscriptions on the faceplate read BROWNIE TARGET SIX-20 and MADE IN U.S.A. BY EASTMAN KODAK COMPANY. The camera is equipped with a fixed-focus meniscus lens and two brilliant viewfinders for portrait and landscape orientations. The simple rotary shutter includes two settings for Instant (I) and Time (T) exposures. The camera was manufactured to use 620 roll film. Included is a black leather carrying case featuring heavy, exposed hand-stitched seams and an integrated shoulder strap. Also included is a vintage cardboard box for Eastman Special Developer (Revised Formula). The box is printed with red and black text detailing its use for films, plates, and paper, and includes a red circular logo for Tested EK Chemicals.
Condition report:
The camera is in good cosmetic condition for its age with the leatherette covering remaining largely intact. The Art Deco faceplate is clean with sharp lettering. The lenses and viewfinders show internal dust and light haze. The shutter levers and film winding knob move freely, though the shutter timing has not been tested for accuracy. The leather case is in poor to fair condition, showing significant surface wear, cracking to the leather, and distressed edges. The developer box is in fair condition with typical edge wear, light staining, and minor tearing at the flaps.
