Description
This side-by-side break-action shotgun is designed with external hammers and double triggers, representative of early twentieth-century American trade-brand firearms. The barrels feature a blued finish and are marked CHOKE BORED on one side and STEEL on the other. The lock plates are clearly marked HARTFORD FIRE ARMS CO. while the receiver water table displays the serial number 88427 alongside a stamped 0. Additional markings observed on the barrel lugs include the characters J, 5, and 7. The shotgun is equipped with a checkered wood pistol-grip stock and matching forend; however, the original foregrip lever is missing and changed to a screw to secure the assembly to the barrels. The stock is completed with a black, diamond-checkered hard rubber buttplate. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The metal components retain a dark, aged patina with substantial thinning of the original blued finish and scattered light surface oxidation. The wooden stock and forend exhibit field wear including scratches, small dings, and smoothed checkering. The forend has been modified with a replacement screw where the original release lever was previously located. The action appears to cock and release correctly, though it has not been function-tested with live ammunition. Bore condition was not determined.
