Description
This lot consists of a total of 17 rounds of Peters Rustless center fire ammunition chambered in .300 Savage. The cartridges are loaded with 150-grain protected point expanding bullets, which are specifically adapted for use in Savage repeating rifle models 1899, 1920, 40, and 45. Verbatim markings on the blue and yellow cardboard packaging include 20 PETERS RUSTLESS, CENTER FIRE .300 SAVAGE SMOKELESS, and 150 GRAIN PROTECTED POINT EXPANDING BULLET FOR SAVAGE REPEATING RIFLES. The end panel of the box is marked .300 SAVAGE with P. P. EXP. BULLET NO. 3084. The reverse of the packaging identifies the producer as PETERS CARTRIDGE DIVISION, REMINGTON ARMS COMPANY, INC., KINGS MILLS, OHIO, and includes the DuPont logo alongside technical information regarding the expanding bullets under U.S. Patent No. 1,512,026. The brass headstamps on the cartridges are clearly marked PETERS .300 SAV and the primers are finished with a blue lacquer sealant. This lot is a partial box, containing 17 of the original 20 rounds.
Condition report:
The outer cardboard box is in fair to good condition, showing moderate shelf wear, edge fraying, and some surface staining consistent with age. The 17 rounds of ammunition appear well-preserved with a light surface patina on the brass casings and no significant corrosion or mechanical damage noted. The primers and projectiles appear intact. While the ammunition appears to be live, it has not been function-tested, and its reliability for firing is not guaranteed due to its vintage nature.
