Lot 1238:
Description
This lot features a collector box of twenty-five vintage Wanda Jet-X 12-gauge shotshells manufactured by the Wanda Cartridge Co. of Houston, Texas. These distinctive cartridges are notable for their 2 3/8-inch length and innovative translucent red plastic hulls, which were designed to allow the internal components to be visible. The load is specified as a JX12C configuration with a 3 3/4 dram equivalent and 1 1/4 ounces of shot. Verbatim markings on the face of the box include the Wanda name and a red shield logo containing a stylized white W, as well as the warning Caution! Keep out of reach of children. The side panel carries the text Wanda’s All New Sleeve Wad, Jet-X, JX12C-3 3/4-1 1/4-, and 25-12 Gauge-2 3/8 In. The reverse side provides technical data for reloading, listing recommended powders such as Green dot, Red dot, PB, SR 4756, SR 7625, AL-120, and AL-7, along with patent numbers 2,986,098, 3,098,446, 3,111,100, and 3,190,220. The manufacturer attribution Wanda Cartridge Co., Houston, Texas, U.S.A. appears at the bottom of the reverse panel.
Condition report:
The cardboard box shows moderate wear consistent with age, including scuffed edges, surface abrasions, and a torn load-specification label on one side panel. The entire box is currently encased in a protective clear plastic wrap. The ammunition appears to be original and live, though the shells have not been individually extracted for inspection. There is no evidence of significant moisture damage or structural failure to the packaging.
