Description
This is a single-shot, bolt-action rifle produced in Belgium and marketed under the Rough-Rider trade name, designed in the style of early 20th-century boy’s rifles. Chambered for .22 caliber and specifically marked for the .22 Long Flobert cartridge, the firearm features a round barrel and a full-length wooden stock with a straight grip. The rifle is equipped with a simple blade front sight and a fixed notched rear sight. Metal components, including the barrel and receiver, exhibit a dark, aged patina with significant surface oxidation and pitting throughout. The wooden stock shows heavy wear consistent with age, including numerous dents, scratches, and a dark, weathered finish. Verbatim markings include ROUGH-RIDER. and a stylized H on the top of the barrel, with the receiver ring stamped BREVETÉ (S.G.D.G.). The left side of the barrel and receiver show several Belgian proof marks, including a crown over R, a stylized EL over an arrow, the ELG within a crowned oval indicating Liège manufacture, and the caliber designation FL. 22. L. The bolt action appears to cycle, although we have not function-tested this firearm. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The rifle is in fair overall condition. The metal finish has largely transitioned to a dark brown patina with widespread surface oxidation and areas of notable pitting on the barrel and receiver. The wooden stock remains solid but displays significant field wear with multiple dings and scratches, though it lacks major cracks. The bore was not inspected. The mechanical action appears to function correctly but is stiff due to the presence of surface corrosion.
