Description
This lot consists of a collection of 145 rounds of vintage Western Cartridge Company ammunition. The grouping includes .38 S.&W. Center Fire cartridges featuring 145-grain Lubaloy coated bullets and .38 Special Center Fire cartridges featuring 158-grain Lubaloy coated bullets. The ammunition is presented in three original cardboard boxes, though the total verified count is 145 rounds. Headstamps are transcribed verbatim as WESTERN 38 S.&W. and WESTERN 38 SPECIAL. The cartridges utilize both brass and nickel-plated cases and feature the proprietary Lubaloy lubricating alloy coating on the projectiles. Box labels indicate the use of non-corrosive priming and smokeless powder. The packaging displays the traditional Western yellow, blue, and red color scheme with the characteristic target logo.
Condition report:
The original cardboard boxes show heavy shelf wear, including frayed corners, edge tears, split seams, and significant surface staining and discoloration. The cartridges themselves exhibit varying levels of condition, with many projectiles showing heavy white and green oxidation on the Lubaloy coating. The brass and nickel-plated cases show moderate to heavy tarnish and surface grime. Primers appear undisturbed.
