Description
This lot features a collection of 66 rounds of vintage 7.65mm Luger, also commonly referred to as .30 Luger, centerfire ammunition split between two original manufacturer boxes. Included is one green Remington Kleanbore 50-count box featuring the DuPont logo and one orange Winchester Repeating Arms Co. 50-count box. Verbatim markings on the Remington box include Remington in red script, Kleanbore Priming, and the DuPont oval, with a non-factory white tape label on one end hand-marked 30 Luger. Cartridges within this box show mixed headstamps including REM-UMC 30 LUGER and W-W 30 LUGER with copper-jacketed round-nose projectiles. The Winchester box is prominently marked 7.65 M/M (.30 Cal.) LUGER FULL PATCH, 93 GRAIN FULL PATCH BULLET, and SMOKELESS CARTRIDGES FOR LUGER AND PARABELLUM AUTOMATIC ARMS. The manufacturer is listed as WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO., NEW HAVEN, CONN., U. S. A. These cartridges feature the W.R.A. CO. 7.65 LUGER headstamp and have round-nose bullets with a dull, oxidized lead appearance.
Condition report:
The Remington box shows moderate shelf wear and corner fraying, while the ammunition inside appears live with clean brass cases and minor tarnish on the jackets. The Winchester box exhibits significant edge wear, surface staining, and a partial tear to the front orange label. The Winchester cartridges show heavy oxidation on the bullet surfaces, giving them a gray, matte finish, while the brass cases show an aged patina with some surface tarnish. All ammunition appears to be live.
