Description
This lot consists of ten detachable box magazines designed for the AR-15 and M16 rifle platform, featuring a twenty-round capacity and a straight-walled profile. The magazines are constructed from lightweight aluminum alloy with a matte grey hard-coat anodized finish, intended for use with 5.56mm NATO or .223 Remington ammunition. Eight of the magazines were manufactured by the Universal Industries Division of Simmonds Precision Products and feature floorplates marked with an S followed by M16/M16A1 CAL. 5.56 MM, UNIVERSAL INDS. DIV., SIMMONDS PREC. PROD. INC., and WEST HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. One magazine is a Colt production unit featuring the rampant colt logo and the markings COLT AR-15, CAL. 5.56 MM, COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. INC., and HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A. The final magazine is produced by Adventure Line and is marked ADVENTURE LINE MFG. CO. INC. and PARSONS, KS. U.S.A. All magazines utilize standard metal followers and steel floorplates, representing classic military contract and early commercial variations for the AR-15 platform.
Condition report:
The magazines are in used condition, exhibiting typical wear to the grey anodized finish including scratches, dings, and thinning on the contact surfaces. The steel floorplates show varying levels of finish loss and light surface oxidation, particularly on the edges and stamped markings. The magazine bodies remain straight and free of major dents that would impede function. The springs and followers appear to be in good working order with appropriate tension, although the units have not been function-tested with live ammunition. Overall, the lot presents in a condition consistent with surplus or long-term storage.
