Description
This lot consists of 123 rounds of reman .30 herret ammunition, custom handloaded and presented in three plastic storage boxes. The cartridges are formed from parent .30-30 Winchester brass, a common practice for this wildcat caliber originally designed for use in the Thompson/Center Contender. Key markings observed on the headstamps include WINCHESTER 30-30 WIN, R-P 30-30 WIN, S&B 30-30 WIN, HORNADY 30-30 WIN, and PPU 30-30 WIN. The ammunition features various projectile types including black polymer-tipped bullets, copper-jacketed soft points, and full metal jacketed projectiles. Handwritten load data on the storage containers identifies the contents as 30 HERRET and lists specifications such as 16.5 grains of IMR 4227 with 110 gr TAC TX FB projectiles, as well as 110 gr FMJ loads. The collection is housed across two blue 50-round trays and one yellow 20-round tray. As these are custom handloads, they are intended for use only in specialized firearms chambered specifically for the .30 Herrett cartridge and should be utilized with appropriate caution.
Condition report:
The ammunition appears to be in good condition for handloaded stock. The brass cases show varying degrees of surface tarnish and oxidation consistent with previously fired parent brass and age. Primers appear properly seated and the projectiles are secure without signs of significant corrosion. The plastic storage boxes are functional with legible handwritten data on the lids. We have not function-tested this ammunition.
