Description
This lot consists of a collection of 90 rounds of 12 gauge shotgun ammunition housed in four vintage 25-count boxes from Winchester and Western. The grouping includes two Winchester Super-Speed Mark 5 boxes, one Western Super-X Mark 5 box, and one white Winchester Super-X box. While the boxes are labeled for various loads including #2 and #4 shot, visual inspection of the interior reveals the current contents are black plastic Winchester AA Handicap shells. Specific markings on the cardboard packaging include WINCHESTER SUPER-SPEED MARK 5, WESTERN SUPER-X MARK 5, and WINCHESTER SUPER-X, along with technical specifications such as 12 GA., 2 3/4 IN., and load codes SS12P2, SX12P2, and WSX12P4. The interior shells are marked verbatim with 3 – 1 1/8 HANDICAP 8 and include the Winchester AA logo. Several boxes retain vintage retail price stickers from PAYLESS. The ammunition is intended for use in 2 3/4 inch or longer chambers and features high-brass heads and plastic hulls.
Condition report:
The cardboard boxes show significant age-related wear, including frayed corners, surface scuffs, and some tearing to the end flaps. The graphics remain largely legible despite the shelf wear and the presence of old adhesive retail stickers. The ammunition appears to be in good overall condition; the black plastic hulls exhibit some minor white powdery oxidation from long-term storage, and the brass heads show light tarnishing. The primers are intact and unfired, and the shells appear to be live factory loads, though the contents do not match the exterior box labeling.
