Description
This lot comprises 130 rounds of .38 Long Colt centerfire ammunition produced by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company and the Remington-Union Metallic Cartridge Company. The collection is organized into three containers including two red plastic MTM Case-Gard P50 boxes and one cardboard divider tray. Technical specifications for these cartridges include rimmed brass cases and lead round-nose bullets. Verbatim markings on the Winchester cartridges identify them with the headstamp W.R.A. CO. 38 LONG while the Remington-UMC rounds feature the headstamp REM-UMC 38 LG COLT and silver-toned primers. One subset of the collection exhibits heavy white and green oxidation and corrosion across the lead projectiles and brass cases. This collection represents historical cartridge production from two major American manufacturers.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in varied vintage condition. A significant portion of the lot shows heavy oxidation and corrosion with white and green mineral deposits on the cases and bullets. The remaining brass-cased cartridges exhibit a dark patina and surface tarnish consistent with age. Primers are present and appear intact. The cardboard and plastic storage containers show expected wear from storage. We have not function-tested this ammunition and it is sold for collectible purposes only.
