Description
A professional-grade meat cleaver manufactured by the International Tool Co. of Newark, New Jersey. This tool features a heavy rectangular carbon steel blade with a slightly convex cutting edge and a circular hang hole located at the upper leading corner. It is built with a full tang construction, featuring contoured hardwood handle scales secured to the tang by three large steel compression rivets. The left side of the blade bears a faint oval maker stamp with the location Newark, New Jersey legible. An associated paper identification tag provides the full maker name and blade measurement.
Blade Length: 8.25 inches.
Condition report:
The cleaver is in well-used antique condition. The carbon steel blade displays a heavy dark patina with significant surface oxidation and pitting throughout. The cutting edge shows signs of historic sharpening and minor nicks. The wooden handle has darkened with age and exhibits various stains, surface wear, and minor checking while remaining securely attached. The rivets show surface rust.
