Description
This lot consists of two boxes containing a total of 40 rounds of .358 Winchester centerfire rifle ammunition. The cartridges are loaded with 200-grain Silvertip expanding bullets, a design that utilizes a silver-colored jacket over the lead nose to provide controlled expansion on impact. One box features Winchester-Western Super X branding in white packaging with catalog number X3581, while the second is an earlier Winchester Super Speed box in a red, yellow, and tan color scheme. Verbatim markings on the boxes include 358 Winchester (8.8 mm) 200 gr. Silvertip Exp. and Super Speed 358 (8.8 m/m) Winchester. The cartridges feature brass casings with headstamps marked W-W SUPER 358 WIN. The packaging specifies the ammunition utilizes Staynless non-mercuric primers and was designed for the Winchester Model 70 and other arms chambered for this caliber.
Condition report:
The ammunition remains in good condition with some age-related tarnish and minor oxidation visible on the brass cases. The Silvertip bullets appear well-seated and intact. Both cardboard boxes exhibit moderate shelf wear, including edge fraying, surface scuffing, and minor tearing at the corners and flaps. One box retains a vintage retail price sticker of $4.75.
