Description
A pair of hand-tooled leather firearm holsters. The larger specimen is designed for a large-frame revolver and features intricate floral and scroll motifs accented by a decorative whip-stitched border. Its reverse is fitted with a single stitched leather belt loop, and the closure is secured by a round brass snap fastener. The smaller holster displays a sunflower and foliate tooled design with standard perimeter stitching and a triple-snap belt attachment system on the reverse side. The quality of the deep relief tooling and specific construction methods, particularly the heavy lacing, are characteristic of the Denver-based firm H.H. Heiser, although no manufacturer stamps or model numbers are present. Both holsters have developed a dark, rich patina from age and use.
Condition report:
Both holsters show significant age-appropriate wear including surface scuffing and darkening of the leather throughout. The larger holster displays a heavy patina and verdigris on the brass snap, with minor fraying to the leather edge lacing near the muzzle. The smaller holster exhibits oxidation and verdigris on the metal snap fasteners. The leather remains relatively supple across both items, and the structural stitching remains secure.
