Description
This Winchester Model 74 is a semi-automatic rifle chambered in .22 Long Rifle, designed for sporting and target shooting. The rifle features a blued steel barrel and receiver paired with a classic one-piece walnut stock with a plain pistol grip. The action is fed by a tubular magazine integrated into the buttstock, which is accessed via a loading port on the right side of the stock and a removable inner tube through the buttplate. Key markings include the manufacturer and model designation on the left side of the barrel, transcribed as MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN — WINCHESTER — MODEL 74 — U.S. OF AMERICA — TRADE MARK — .22 L. RIFLE —. The serial number 105037 is clearly stamped on the left side of the receiver. Winchester WP proof marks in ovals are present on the top of the barrel and receiver. The firearm is equipped with a fixed bead front sight and an adjustable sporting leaf rear sight. A top-mounted sliding safety is located on the receiver. The buttplate is checkered steel with a central cutout for the magazine tube. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The metal surfaces retain a good portion of the original blued finish, though there is noticeable thinning and wear, particularly on the top of the receiver and along the barrel. Scattered handling marks and light oxidation are present. The walnut stock shows moderate wear consistent with age, featuring numerous scratches, dings, and small compressions throughout. The bore is bright with well-defined rifling. The action appears to function correctly when cycled manually, and the sliding safety is operational, though the firearm has not been function-tested. The magazine tube is present and fits securely.
