Description

This lot comprises a collection of vintage centerfire ammunition components for the .221 Remington Fireball caliber, containing a total of 15 live rounds and 89 empty brass casings, some of which are primed. The collection is housed in six period retail boxes consisting of five green Remington High Velocity 20 centerfire cartridge boxes and one tri-color Peters High Velocity box featuring Kleanbore priming and the DuPont corporate logo. Visual inspection of the brass components reveals headstamps marked with R – P on the upper arc and 221 REM on the lower arc, signifying Remington-Peters manufacture and the specific caliber. The cartridges feature a bottlenecked brass case and jacketed soft point projectiles. This grouping includes original cardboard packaging that displays significant historical character and provides a representative sample of mid-20th-century commercial ammunition branding.

Condition report:

The brass casings exhibit a natural aged patina with varying levels of surface tarnishing and minor oxidation consistent with long-term storage. The live rounds appear to be in stable condition with intact primers, while the empty brass includes a mix of spent casings and those that have been primed but not loaded. The cardboard retail packaging shows significant shelf wear including scuffing, edge fraying, softened corners, and various tears and abrasions. The inner trays show wear from use and the blue Peters box has significant material loss and tearing to the end flaps.
