Description
This collection consists of five leather handgun holsters designed in the California loop or double loop pattern specifically for single action revolvers. The group features various styles of hand tooling including basketweave patterns, floral scrolls, and geometric borders across leather in shades of tan, brown, and black. One brown holster is distinguished by a decorative braided leather edge trim along its main seam. Transcribed markings include the characters 1 7 6 stamped onto the rightmost loop of the black holster, with additional numerical stamps of 1 5 and 1 2 found on the reverse side of two brown holsters. The holsters are of sewn construction reinforced with metal rivets and are sized to accommodate large frame revolvers with barrel lengths between 4.75 and 7.5 inches. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The holsters are in good overall condition with wear consistent with age and field use. The leather remains supple but exhibits surface scuffing, darkening from oil, and scattered areas of grain cracking, most notably on the black specimen and at the stress points of the belt loops. The stitching is largely intact across the lot. Metal rivets show varying degrees of oxidation and green verdigris. One holster shows heavier abrasions and finish loss near the toe.
