Description
A collection of 10 vintage trade catalogs from Jackson Arms, a prominent dealer in antique and collectible firearms based in Dallas, Texas. The group includes the following identified issues: Catalog 8 (featuring the collection of Dr. Prentiss D. Cheney), Catalog 10 (dated June 1954), Catalog 12 (1956 Edition), Catalog 15, Catalog 16 (The Ben Ames Williams Collection), Catalog 17, Catalog 18, Catalog 19, Catalog 23 (dated 1966), and a specialized Powder Flask Catalog. These publications are staple-bound softcover booklets, approximately quarto in size. Each catalog is illustrated throughout with detailed monochrome and sepia-toned images of historic firearms, including flintlock and percussion pistols, revolvers, rifles, and related accessories. The covers bear various historical addresses for the firm, including 4347 East Lovers Lane, 2926 N. Henderson Ave., and 6209 Hillcrest Ave., alongside business details such as Federal License numbers (including No. 75-1445, No. 11317, and No. 10141) and period telephone numbers.
Condition report:
The collection is in good condition for paper ephemera of this period. All catalogs exhibit overall age-toning and light foxing to the paper. The wrappers show minor shelf wear and occasional soft creases at the corners. Catalog 19 has a distinct circular brown stain on the upper portion of the front cover. The staple bindings remain firm and intact.
