Description
This lot features a trio of factory-manufactured rifle barrels designed for Remington bolt-action rifles, specifically the Model 721, 722, and 700 series. Each barrel features a tapered profile and a threaded breech shank for receiver mounting. One barrel is chambered in .222 Remington, and its markings include Remington Arms Co. Inc. Ilion, N.Y. Made in U.S.A. .222 Rem. along the left side. A second barrel is chambered in .22-250 Remington, bearing the markings Remington Arms Co. Inc. Ilion, N.Y. Made in U.S.A. .22-250 Rem. together with patent numbers 2,473,373, 2,514,981, and 2,585,195. The third barrel shows a similar profile, though its specific markings are obscured by heavy oxidation. All three barrels are missing all original hardware, including front and rear sights, and do not include receivers, bolts, or magazines. These components are being sold strictly for parts or restoration projects.
Condition report:
The barrels are in poor condition, exhibiting significant signs of environmental neglect and heavy oxidation. The .222 Remington barrel shows nearly total finish loss with thick orange surface rust throughout. The .22-250 barrel retains approximately 60 percent of its blued finish but is marred by scattered patches of rust and light pitting. The third barrel is heavily pitted, with corrosion deep enough to render its markings illegible. While the bores were not internally inspected, the external condition suggests they likely contain rust and pitting. All threaded shanks show surface oxidation and should be thoroughly cleaned and inspected by a qualified gunsmith prior to any attempted use or installation.
