Description
A Remington brand ammunition tin containing 475 rounds of .22 Long Rifle rimfire cartridges. The rectangular metal container is finished in green and features a yellow banner on the lid with the name Remington and red graphics. Text on the lid identifies the contents as RIM FIRE 22 LONG RIFLE HIGH VELOCITY and specifies CONTENTS 475 ROUNDS. Side panels are marked REMINGTON ARMS COMPANY, INC. BRIDGEPORT, CONN. 06602 and KLEANBORE, with one panel displaying a color illustration of the Remington Arms Company factory in Bridgeport. Additional markings include FINE FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION SINCE 1816 and a safety warning stating RANGE 1 1/2 MILES – BE CAREFUL. The lot contains 475 loose cartridges with various headstamps including the letters R, U, C, and the abbreviated name Rem. The projectiles consist of lead round nose and copper-washed bullets, with at least one hollow point projectile visible within the assortment.
Condition report:
The green finish on the metal tin shows scattered scratches, paint loss, adhesive residue, and minor oxidation along the edges and seams. The ammunition exhibits age-related tarnishing to the brass cases and varying degrees of oxidation on the lead projectiles. All cartridges appear to be live and were not individually function-tested.
