Description

This lot features a total of 91 rounds of Winchester .22 Automatic rimfire ammunition, a proprietary cartridge specifically developed for use in the Winchester Model 1903 and Model 63 self-loading rifles. The ammunition is presented in two original cardboard boxes displaying the traditional Winchester yellow, red, and blue color palette. The cartridges consist of copper-plated lead projectiles, designated as Kopperklad, seated in rimfire cases. Prominent markings on the packaging include WINCHESTER .22 AUTOMATIC, STAYNLESS KOPPERKLAD, and INSIDE LUBRICATED, alongside the iconic red W logo. The side and rear panels identify the manufacturer as the WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. DIVISION OF WESTERN CARTRIDGE COMPANY, NEW HAVEN, CONN., U. S. A. and list U. S. A. PATENT 2 136 801 with the product code K2205R. Individual cartridges are marked with an incised H headstamp on the base, a historical reference to B. Tyler Henry. As the user-provided quantity is 91 rounds, these boxes are partial and do not contain the original full complement of 100 cartridges.

Condition report:

The cardboard boxes show moderate signs of age-related wear, including softened corners, edge scuffing, and minor surface staining; one box is present as the outer sleeve only. The 91 cartridges are in good collectible condition, with the brass-colored cases exhibiting a light, even patina and the copper plating on the bullets showing some darkening consistent with age. There is no evidence of significant corrosion or degradation to the components. This ammunition is sold for its collectible value and has not been function-tested.
