Description
This J. Stevens Arms Company Favorite Model 1915 is a single shot lever action rifle chambered for the .22 Long Rifle cartridge, featuring a takedown design facilitated by a knurled tension nut located on the underside of the receiver. The firearm is equipped with a 24 inch octagonal barrel that transitions to a round profile near the forearm and is fitted with a fixed front blade sight and a step adjustable rear notch sight. Key markings include the manufacturer and caliber designation on the top barrel flat which reads MADE IN U.S.A. J. STEVENS ARMS COMPANY CHICOPEE FALLS MASS. U.S.A. 22 LONG RIFLE while the top of the receiver is stamped TRADE MARK FAVORITE and the upper tang is marked MODEL 1915. The lower tang bears the serial number C 974. The rifle features a straight grip walnut buttstock and a matching rounded forearm; however, the original buttplate is missing, leaving the wood at the rear of the stock exposed with three mounting holes visible. The metal surfaces exhibit a naturally aged, mottled brown and gray patina with visible surface oxidation and light pitting throughout the receiver and barrel flats. The action appears to cycle mechanically, but we have not function tested this firearm. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The rifle is in fair overall condition, showing significant honest wear consistent with its age. The metal finish has largely transitioned to a dark brown and gray patina with areas of surface oxidation and light pitting present on the barrel and receiver. The walnut stock and forearm display a dark, weathered appearance with numerous dings, scratches, and small pressure dents. The hard rubber buttplate is missing. The bore is dark with visible pitting and softened rifling. The lever action mechanics appear functional, though the lock up exhibits a minor degree of play typical for this model.
