Description
This diverse collection consists of approximately 32 firearm cleaning rods and related maintenance equipment from manufacturers such as J. Dewey and Pro-Shot. The assortment features various one-piece and multi-piece rods constructed from stainless steel, coated steel, and wood, with several featuring yellow or black protective jackets. Prominent markings include J. DEWEY MFG. CO. INC. and SOUTHBURY, CT 06488 on multiple red handles, and one rod is contained within a clear plastic tube labeled for PRO-SHOT PRODUCTS of TAYLORVILLE, IL 62568. The tools utilize an array of handle designs, including standard screwdriver-style handles in red, blue, and black plastic; a knurled metal handle; several T-handles made of metal, plastic, and wood; and one large, ergonomically contoured wooden handle. The rods are equipped with various threaded tips, brass jags, and patch loops designed for cleaning a wide range of calibers and gauges.
Condition report:
The collection shows mixed condition throughout. Some steel rods exhibit surface oxidation, light rust, and finish loss, while others, particularly the coated and stainless examples, remain well-preserved. The wooden rods show minor dings and typical signs of use. Handles are generally functional with some exhibiting scuffs, scratches, and minor discoloration. Accessories and tips appear to be in usable condition.
