Description
This lot comprises 243 rounds of vintage Remington-UMC Kleanbore .22 caliber rimfire ammunition, distributed among five original cardboard display boxes. The collection features three boxes of .22 Long Rifle Lubricated Bullets, including two coded R17L and one un-coded with heavy wear, one box of .22 Long Rifle Hi-Speed Hollow Point cartridges with manufacturer code R23L, and one box labeled for .22 Long Rifle on the front while the end flap is marked .22 Long with code R14L. These boxes feature the classic green and yellow Remington-UMC color scheme and the distinctive red Kleanbore dog bone logo. Prominent box markings include 50 RIM FIRE .22 LONG RIFLE CARTRIDGES, Lubricated Bullets, and manufacturer information specifying Remington Arms Company, Inc., Bridgeport, Conn., with firearms production noted in Ilion, N.Y. Side panels state these cartridges are positively non-corrosive and that the bore of a firearm will not rust if Remington Kleanbore cartridges are used in it exclusively. The individual 243 rounds consist of copper-colored casings stamped with a stylized U headstamp and lead bullets.
Condition report:
The cardboard boxes show significant signs of age and shelf wear, including fraying, tearing, and considerable paper loss, particularly on the top left .22 Long Rifle box. The cartridges show typical signs of aging, with several bullets exhibiting a white lead oxide bloom. The copper casings show minor oxidation and tarnish consistent with long-term storage. The boxes are partially filled to reach the stated total of 243 rounds.
