Description
This Winchester Model 88 lever-action rifle is chambered in .308 Winchester and features a 22-inch barrel. The rifle is configured with a blued steel finish on the barrel and receiver, paired with a one-piece walnut stock that includes point-pattern checkering on the pistol grip and forend. The stock is fitted with a black Winchester-branded polymer buttplate and includes sling swivels with an attached brown leather sling. Sighting equipment consists of a hooded ramp front sight and a folding adjustable rear leaf sight. The rifle utilizes a detachable box magazine. Verified markings on the barrel include WINCHESTER – TRADE MARK, MODEL 88 – CAL .308 WIN., MADE IN U.S.A., and WIN. PROOF STEEL. The top of the barrel and receiver both bear the Winchester WP proof mark. The serial number 64820 is stamped on the left side of the receiver. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The rifle is in good used condition. The blued finish on the barrel and receiver is largely intact, showing minor thinning at the muzzle and some faint handling marks on the receiver. The walnut stock remains structurally sound with original finish, exhibiting scattered light scratches, dings, and surface compressions consistent with field use. The checkering remains well-defined. The bore was not inspected but the external condition of the barrel suggests a well-maintained piece. The detachable magazine shows some operational finish wear. The leather sling is supple with minor surface cracking.
