Description
This lot comprises a total of 500 rounds of vintage .22 Long Rifle rimfire ammunition manufactured by the Federal Cartridge Corp. of Minneapolis, Minnesota, under the Monark brand. The grouping consists of a large outer brick box containing individual 50-round boxes. The packaging features a graphic red and cream design with large blue lettering typical of mid-20th-century commercial aesthetics. The cartridges are constructed with brass rimfire casings and lead-lubricated round-nose projectiles. Verbatim markings on the outer box include MONARK RIM FIRE 500 CARTRIDGES and LEAD LUBRICATED. Side panel markings indicate the manufacturer as FEDERAL CARTRIDGE CORP. MINNEAPOLIS, MINN., U.S.A. while the end flap identifies the caliber as .22 LONG RIFLE NON-CORROSIVE LEAD LUBRICATED. The individual cartridge bases are headstamped with a single capital letter F.
Condition report:
The cardboard packaging exhibits significant age-related wear, including surface staining, scuffing, and fraying along the edges and corners. The graphics remain largely legible despite the shelf wear. The brass cases show a natural patina and light tarnish consistent with long-term storage. The lead bullets demonstrate a visible white oxidation or lead bloom across the lot. This ammunition is being sold as a vintage collectible; we have not function-tested these cartridges and cannot guarantee their performance, reliability, or safety.
