Description
A lot of 100 rounds of .22 caliber short rimfire ammunition manufactured by the United States Cartridge Company. The lot is comprised of two original two-piece cardboard boxes. The cartridges feature copper-colored rimfire cases and lead projectiles intended for use as rifle cartridges. Verbatim markings on the primary labels include 50 .22 CALIBRE SHORT RIM FIRE and identifying the manufacturer as UNITED STATES CARTRIDGE CO., LOWELL, MASS. Side panel markings specify SHORT, LESMOK, RIM FIRE, and RIFLE CARTRIDGES. The cartridges are headstamped with the letters U and S. The reverse side of the packaging displays a guarantee stating that the cartridges are made of the best material on improved machinery by skilled workmen and are critically inspected by trained experts before being put on the market, followed by the printed signature of the United States Cartridge Co.
Condition report:
The ammunition cases exhibit a dark aged patina. The lead bullets show significant and heavy white oxidation across both boxes. The cardboard packaging displays heavy shelf wear, including surface abrasions, edge fraying, and structural damage to the end flaps. The ammunition appears live and untired; however, the powder and primers have not been tested for viability.
