Gun Collectors Dream Auction #86 Collector Auction
Lot 1505:
Description
This is a single Daisy No. 118 Targeteer spring-action air pistol chambered for .118 caliber shot, featuring a stamped-steel construction typical of early 20th-century target air guns. The pistol is equipped with a 5-inch smoothbore barrel and an internal spring-piston mechanism. The exterior metal surfaces exhibit a heavily degraded original finish with pervasive surface oxidation, pitting, and a dark mottled patina across the frame and barrel. The integrated metal grips are textured and feature a circular logo on each side with the verbatim marking DAISY arranged in an arc. Aiming is achieved via a fixed front blade sight and a rear notch sight mounted to the top of the receiver. While the No. 118 Targeteer model designation was standard for this pattern, any specific frame markings are currently obscured by surface corrosion and are not clearly legible. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The overall condition is poor to fair. The stamped steel finish is heavily degraded, exhibiting pervasive surface rust, pitting, and a dark, mottled patina across all metal components. The bore was not inspected but likely shares similar oxidation based on the exterior condition. The spring-action mechanism has not been function-tested and the item is sold as-is. The integrated metal grips show surface wear and corrosion but remain structurally sound with the Daisy logos still visible.
