Description
This side-by-side break-action shotgun is chambered for 12 gauge and features a traditional field configuration with dual triggers and a matted top rib equipped with a brass bead front sight. The barrels are crafted from smokeless powder steel and exhibit a thinning blued finish with areas of wear and light surface oxidation. The receiver is roll-engraved on both sides with scenes of a bird dog in a field and features a mottled gray and brown patina. Key markings include the manufacturer name and location ITHACA GUN CO. ITHACA N.Y. on the sides of the receiver, while the barrels are marked SMOKELESS POWDER STEEL near the breech. The matching serial number 285183 is stamped on the receiver flats and the barrel flats; the receiver is further marked with an S over the gauge designation 12. The furniture consists of a checkered walnut pistol-grip stock and a matching forend, both exhibiting various handling marks, small indentations, and wear to the checkering consistent with field use. The buttstock is fitted with a brown rubber slip-on recoil pad marked JOHNS. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The barrels retain a moderate amount of thinning blued finish with scattered surface oxidation and wear consistent with age. The receiver exhibits a mottled patina with areas of light oxidation and remains uncleaned. The bores are not visible in the provided images. The action appears to function correctly, though it has not been function-tested with live ammunition. The walnut stock and forend are in good structural condition but show numerous dings, scratches, and moderate wear to the checkered sections. The slip-on recoil pad is intact but shows typical aging.
