Gun Collectors Dream Auction #86 Collector Auction
Lot 1507:
Description
This lot consists of a collection of 227 rounds of remanufactured centerfire ammunition primarily chambered in .22 Remington Jet. The cartridges are organized into four plastic storage cases, comprising two gray-tinted boxes and two translucent clear boxes. Technical inspection of the brass cases reveals headstamps transcribed verbatim as R-P 22 REM JET and R-P 357 MAGNUM, indicating the use of resized Remington-Peters brass for these hand-loaded rounds. Handwritten load data labels secured inside the lids provide specific assembly details including 10 gr H-110, 40 gr S. Point, and .22 Jet. The cartridges feature soft-point bullets and are seated in brass cases that display varying levels of natural tarnish. As these are remanufactured or hand-loaded rounds, they are consistent with custom ammunition intended for use in firearms such as the Smith and Wesson Model 53 revolver.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in good overall condition. The brass cartridge cases exhibit varying degrees of surface oxidation and tarnish consistent with long-term storage in plastic containers. The lead soft-point bullet tips show minor dulling and oxidation. The primers appear to be properly seated and free of significant corrosion. The four plastic storage boxes are intact and functional, though they show light scuffing and contain handwritten load data on the interior labels. This ammunition appears to be live.
